What to Know
The Golden State Warriors have enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they must head out on the road. They will take on the Dallas Mavericks at 9 p.m. ET Sunday at American Airlines Center. Golden State will be strutting in after a win while Dallas will be stumbling in from a loss.
The Warriors are hoping for another victory. They came out on top against the Mavericks by a score of 126-117 this past Friday. The win came about thanks to a strong surge after the half to overcome a 72-58 deficit. The Dubs' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but point guard Stephen Curry led the charge as he shot 6-for-10 from downtown and finished with 32 points, five assists and eight rebounds.
Golden State is expected to win this handily, but they should have beaten the Indiana Pacers Jan. 20 easily too and instead slipped up with a 121-117. In other words, don't count Dallas out just yet.

If you watched the first 24 minutes of Game 2 between the Golden State Warriors and Dallas Mavericks on Friday night but turned the game off at halftime, you'd probably be pretty surprised to learn that the Warriors ended up winning by nine points. The Mavericks led the game, 72-58, at halftime, and they appeared to be in control of the contest. However, the game did a complete 180 in the second half. Golden State outscored Dallas by 12 in the third quarter, and then they outpaced the Mavs by 11 in the final frame to secure the victory.
With the win, the Warriors took a 2-0 lead in the series, which will now shift to Dallas for Sunday night's Game 3. No team wants to fall behind by two games in a playoff series, but Dallas came from 0-2 down to oust the top-seeded Phoenix Suns in the last round.
Here's everything you need to know about the third game in the series between Golden State and Dallas.
The Mavericks find themselves in a familiar position ahead of Sunday's pivotal matchup with the Warriors. Dallas was down 2-0 against Phoenix in the second round of the 2022 NBA Playoffs, and now are stuck in the same hole against Golden State after blowing a double-digit lead in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals.
The key to Game 3 for the Mavs will be sustaining their defensive effort. The Warriors shot 61.0 percent in the second half of Game 2 and 78.9 percent in the fourth quarter on their way to a 126-117 win.
"We play defense when we play offense, and we play no defense when we can't score," Mavericks coach Jason Kidd said. "That's something that we have to get better at this time of the year. You can get away with it in the regular season, but just understanding the defensive principles, we just have to do better."
Golden State, meanwhile, has to be feeling good considering its history with 2-0 leads. The Warriors are 14-1 when holding a 2-0 advantage since Steve Kerr took over as the team's head coach in 2014-15.
Will the Mavs get on the board? Or will the Warriors keep rolling?
Here's everything you need to know about Warriors vs. Mavericks, including a full schedule for the Western Conference Finals.

Golden State took a 2-0 lead for the series with a 126-117 victory in Game 2 on Friday, a game where it stormed back from a 19-point deficit in the second half. The trio of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green provided their usual heroics but the surprise of the night was center Kevon Looney, who stepped up with a career high 21 points and 12 rebounds in the win. Jordan Poole also offered up 23 points.
It was a debilitating loss for Dallas, who dominated in the first half and seem destined to tie the series heading back to Texas. Luka Dončić did what was expected of him with 42 points, eight assists, and five rebounds while Jalen Brunson provided 31 points. However, it wasn’t enough and they absolutely need to pull themselves back into the series with a win tonight.
It's now or never for the Mavs, because if they fall behind 3-0 the series is as good as over. Dallas showed in the first half of Game 2 that the team has a game plan that works against the Warriors, the Mavs just need to follow it for a full 48 minutes. With their home fans behind them, look for the Mavs to come out focused and motivated. Pick: Mavericks -2.5 sports
